Schedulizer

Today Sarah A. and I presented on the topic of the Schedulizer website. We commented on the pros and cons of the website while also informing the class on its purpose. Here is the link to the presentation:

  1. I really enjoyed watching your presentation because both of you made excellent points. Chaiss, when I first heard you guys were doing Schedulizer, I was curious of how you'd bring up the the books you've read and I loved the way you made a connection to Wolf that I didn't see before. While I do use this program every now and then when I've forgotten to schedule classes, I prefer to just figure it out because it's like a puzzle to me and while Sarah made an excellent representation of the ease of use of this program which seems fantastic, the fact that there are huge errors in it make me weary.

  2. Schedulizer is a handy tool for college students nation-wide. There is a long list of schools that utilize this service for the convenience of their students. Schedulizer links with certain colleges, such as LSU, to allow students to test out how their class schedule for the next semester could look like. This is especially beneficial for science-oriented majors because often there are multiple lab times (as many as 45 sections). This tool lets students visualize their schedule and customize it to their preference and personal schedule.

  3. While personally I do not use Schedulizer, I can understand why some people do. I do feel that is is 'cool' technology. Scheduling is complicated and tricky. Why wouldn't you want to make the process simpler. I do not think people should rely on only Schedulizer, though. I did like your connection to Wolf, and I agree with him. I don't think anything is wrong with an application that helps to ease the scheduling process, but if a person is depended on the technology and does not even know how to schedule, I can see huge problems arising.
